If I were to receive a pound for the number of people I know who voice their unworthiness, I’d be cruising around the Caribbean supping my espresso martinis all winter long.
Don’t get me wrong, I even go to that place in my head on occasion and at the end of the day, it’s me that has to snap myself out of that place too.
I remember watching a video of this amazing woman named Marissa Peer, who was on stage at a Mindvalley event and the words that she delivered have had a lasting impact on my life. This was a good year or so ago now, and because it was so profound for me I’d love to share with you guys my tips on how to give yourself a daily boost.
If you think about the fact that around 95% of our daily thoughts are subconscious which means that unless we are paying attention to the fact there is an internal dialogue running riot in our minds, then what we are doing is allowing an onslaught of negativity and old programming dictate who we are and how we act in life.
Now what we do know is that through daily efforts to reprogram our mind with the daily repetitive use of affirmations and visualisation (to name a few ways) we can re-write who we are. Think of it as learning a new skill. It’s the same principle where we learn new ways of thinking and the more we practice this, the myelin thickens and we are hardwired to think in new ways.
Now I, just as sooo many others always had a lack of worthiness issue throughout my whole life and I wasn’t even aware of how much that was holding me back. But as I keep peeling away layers of myself through personal growth over the years I have become so aware of this perpetuating cycle of self-destruction and getting in my own way.
What I learned from Marissa Peer that day was a very simple trick of writing on my mirror and as a reminder that pops up on my phone 5 times a day, a very simple sentence; “I am enough”.
This has quite frankly changed my world. It’s been a subtle and gradual process over the last year of that feeding into my subconscious several times a day and layer by layer is falling away and my confidence and belief in myself is soaring day by day.
I honestly can say I don’t feel the same as I did this time 6 months ago, let alone 1 year ago. Try it out. You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
